Here's what to look for while traveling in the Baltimore metropolitan area this week. Only newly announced work is listed, not continuing construction, which is extensive on several highways, including Interstate 95, U.S. 50/301 and the Baltimore-Washington Parkway.

New highway projects

Route 32, Gambrills Road: Gambrills Road at Route 32 will be closed June 17 for construction of the bridge over Route 32. Detours will be posted. After completion of the bridge in 12 months, there will be no access off Route 32 to Gambrills Road.

Route 3 North: Two lanes of northbound Route 3 will be closed beginning tomorrow from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. for removal of the Steward Avenue bridge. Traffic will be maintained on one lane during this period. Lanes will be open July 3 through July 7. Normal closures will resume July 8. On the completion of the northbound bridge removal, similar closings will occur. Also, one lane of the ramp from Route 176 to southbound Route 3 will be closed from 9 a.m. June 21 to 6 a.m. July 15 for bridge pier removal.

Triathlon

These streets will be closed and lane restrictions applied to ensure the safety of motorists and participants in today's Bud Light Triathlon.

7 a.m. to noon: Southbound Jones Falls Expressway closed from Guilford Avenue to Pratt Street.

8:40 a.m. to 11 a.m.: eastbound Northern Parkway closed from Loch Raven Boulevard to McClean Boulevard.

9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m.: Southbound Hillen Road closed from Northern Parkway to Perring Parkway.

9:30 a.m. to noon: Fort Avenue from Andre Street to Wallace Street.

3 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.: Key Highway from Light Street to Covington Street.

Detour signs and lane restrictions will be posted. All signalized intersections along the race routes will be staffed by city police officers.

Light-rail construction

Lombard Street west of Howard Street is closed until 3 p.m, TODAY. Primary Detour: westbound traffic on Lombard Street will proceed north on Charles Street to Fayette Street; west on Fayette to Greene Street; south on Greene Street to Lombard Street. Second Detour: westbound traffic on Lombard Street will proceed north on Howard Street to Fayette Street; west on Fayette to Greene Street; south on Greene Street to Lombard Street.

Bus route changes:

The MTA has scheduled the following changes in bus routes for this week. For more information, call 539-5000; TTY for the hearing-impaired, 539-3497.

Temporary routes

Nos. 5, 35 and 62 -- Until 6 a.m. tomorrow, Monument Street is closed west of Broadway because of construction. Eastbound buses will travel the regular route to Monument and Caroline streets, north on Caroline, east on Eager Street, south on Wolfe Street, east on Monument, then via regular route.

Farmers' market

Beginning Thursday and continuing every Thursday through October, a farmers' market will close Allegheny Avenue between Washington Avenue and Joppa Road in Towson from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., temporarily rerouting these bus lines:

No. 3 (Sheppard Pratt) -- northbound via regular route to Joppa and York roads, south on York, west on Pennsylvania Avenue, south on Washington, then via regular route. Southbound via regular route to Washington and Pennsylvania, west on Pennsylvania, north on Bosley Avenue, south on York, east on Joppa, then via regular route.

No. 8 (Stella Maris) -- Southbound via regular route to Dulaney Valley and York roads, south on York, west on Pennsylvania, south on Washington, then via regular route. No change in northbound service.

No. 55 -- Eastbound via regular route to Washington and Pennsylvania, west on Pennsylvania, north on Bosley, south on York, east on Joppa, then via regular route. Westbound via regular route to Joppa and York, south on York, west on Pennsylvania, south on Washington, then via regular route.

Triathlon

The Bud Light Triathlon today will close Light Street between Lee and Montgomery streets from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m., temporarily rerouting these bus lines:

Nos. 8 (Inner Harbor), 61 and 62 -- Southbound via regular route on Light to Conway Street, west on Conway to the temporary layover between Light and Charles streets. Northbound from the temporary layover, north on Charles, east on Baltimore Street, north on Calvert Street, then via regular route.

No. 64 -- Northbound via regular route on Light to Henrietta Street, west on Henrietta, north on Charles, east on Baltimore, north on Calvert, then via regular route. Southbound via regular route on Light to Lee, west on Lee, south on Charles, east on Montgomery, south on Light, then via regular route.
