Man's Kidnapping Claim Proves False

Police arrested a Prince George's County man on suspicion of filing a false kidnapping report after discovering him in the trunk of a carin the parking lot of the Annapolis Mall Saturday.

In trying to explain to police why he was stuck in the trunk, Anthony Darryl Arrington, of the 5200 block Marlboro Pike in Forestville, told police he had been robbed at gunpoint by a former schoolmate in Washington, D.C., two nights before, stuffed in the car and then abandoned.

The case was handed over to Washington robbery detectives, who "learned that the victim was lying about the incident," police reported.

He was treated for minor bruises and scrapes caused by being jammed in the trunk of the car.

Annapolis:

2000 block of West Street : June 17. air-conditioning unit taken. Total loss, $3,000.

Edgewater:

June 2-7. Cabin door pried open, stereo equipment taken. Total loss, $2,000.

Hanover:

7400 block of Shipley Avenue: June 15. Heavy pry tool used to steal 80-pound safe containing cash. Totalloss: $2,206

Jessup:

900 block of Old Jessup Road. Between June 15 and 17. Bolt cutter and pry tools used to take cash and checks. Total loss: $1,880

Odenton:

Arundel Crossing, Routes 32 and 175: June 14-17. Farming equipment and steel pins stolen from job site. Total loss, $2,250.

Pasadena:

300 block of Edgewater Road: June13-14. Access gained through door, two handguns and a gym bag stolen. Total loss, $570.
