Leonard "Boogie" Weinglass is trying to buy the Orioles, and director Barry Levinson wants in.
"I have real interest in this obviously," Levinson said yesterday from Los Angeles. "If the feasibility of it is worked out, I would certainly want to do that [be part-owner]."
Weinglass grew up in Baltimore with Levinson and was the model for a character in Levinson's 1982 movie "Diner." Weinglass, the founder and vice chairman of Merry-Go-Round Enterprises Inc. of Joppa, is in the preliminary stages of trying to buy the Orioles from Eli Jacobs, who is considering selling the team he purchased in 1989.
