Emma L. Stansbury

Baltimore native

Emma Louise Stansbury, a Baltimore native and avid bridge player who enjoyed doting on her grandchildren, died of pneumonia Saturday at Union Memorial Hospital. She was 86.

A longtime resident of Charles Village, the former Emma Louise Deane moved to Rodgers Forge about 10 years ago.

Mrs. Stansbury indulged in her favorite pastime -- bridge -- every Friday until her death, and in earlier years, she and her friends would sometimes visit Maryland race tracks to cheer a favorite horse down the stretch.

Mrs. Stansbury was a life member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Her husband, Henry D. Stansbury, former vice president of Equitable Trust Bank, died in 1970.

She is survived by three grandchildren, Gordon L. Smith of Baldwin, Barbara H. Smith of Baltimore,

and Kenneth Frontain of Alexandria, Va., and two great-grandchildren, Eric H. Smith and Ethan Huber-Smith. A daughter, Mary Louise Frontain, died in 1977.

The family suggested memorial donations to the American Heart Association.

Services will be private.
