Jones Gets Ward Seat

Earlier this month, the Annapolis Democratic Central Committee elected M.C. "Bill" Jones, a Democratic activist and lifelong Annapolitan who lives in the Fourth Ward, to fill the at-large seat recently vacated by Steve Yaniga.

Jones joins fellow representatives Susan Davies of Ward One, Irma Sponsler of Ward Two, Larry Johnson of Ward Three, Trudi McGowan of Ward Four, Clarence Gilmer of Ward Five, Michael Brown of Ward Six, Dorothy Hubbard of Ward Seven and Bessie Peret of Ward Eight. Their activities include the promotion of the Democratic Party in the city of Annapolis.

IT'S 'NEW HOMES' MONTH

Gov.William Donald Schaefer has proclaimed June to be "New Homes Month" in Maryland.

During this time, the Home Builders Association of Maryland will offer a variety of public information programs and services.

As part of this effort, HBAM plans to conduct its annual buyers school, "Meeting the New Home Challenge," from 7 to 9 p.m. June 25 at its Baltimore headquarters, located at 1502 Woodlawn Drive.

A panel of industry experts will address issues such as choosing builders, mortgage options, extended home warranties and others. A question-and-answer session follows.

Consumers also can contact the HBAM toget their free copy of "The New Home Buyers Guide."

Topics include determining a price range to finding the final stages of construction and settlement. A work sheet to assist determining affordability and a glossary of industry terms is included.
