...hTC A Frederick woman and two of her three young children were killed yesterday afternoon when their car was hit by a tractor-trailer, state police said. A third son was taken to a hospital and treated for a broken leg.
Laurie Ann Mays, 22, of the 1400 block of Key Parkway had been driving southbound on Route 85 near Interstate 270 about 2:25 p.m. when she tried to make a left turn onto Executive Way, according to police. Mrs. May's 1983 Datsun Sentra was hit broadside by a tractor-trailer that was hauling dry cement, driven by Robert Hauser, 56, of Hanover, Pa.
Mrs. Mays and her 2-year-old son, Thomas James May, were killed instantly in the collision, police said. Three-month-old Travis Scott Mays was flown by helicopter to the Children's Hospital at the National Medical Center in Washington where he died in the emergency room.
