Around the house

* Remove crayon marks from wallpaper. Use a hair dryer to soften spots; rub off carefully with a damp cloth and a touch of soap.

* Remove insects and dirt from organic produce. Add one or tw teaspoons of salt or vinegar to a bowl of water. Immerse produce in mixture for a few minutes and rinse thoroughly.

* Make your own fabric softening sheets. Dampen a washclot with liquid fabric softener and toss into dryer with clothes.

In the garden

When working outdoors, keep soap handy for cleanups. Place a bar of soap inside a mesh bag and tie it around an outdoor spigot.
