Medalist Andrea Kraus and upset-minded Sally Casey continued their winning ways yesterday at the Elkridge Club and will play for the women's Metropolitan championship this morning.
The championship match, as well as the finals of the other flights, will be played at the CC of Maryland, beginning at 8:24 a.m.
Kraus, from Woodholme CC and a former champion, was 1-over par for the front nine in building a 5-up lead on Joan Lins of Turf Valley CC, and went on to a 7-and-5 triumph.
Casey, who had sidelined defending champion Cindy Peterka on Wednesday, came right back to eliminate Kanya Chintrisna of Rolling Road GC, 3 and 2.
No more than two holes separated Casey, from Green Spring and a losing finalist two years ago, and Chintrisna, although the latter led only once, winning the fourth hole.
Casey birdied the sixth and ninth holes to turn one over par and 2-up. Chintrisna won the 13th with a par, but gave it back after missing the green at No. 14.
The leader ended it at the 15th when she put a second shot 12 feet from the flag at the 375-yard hole, and her opponent needed four to reach the green.
In the day's only other matches, Judy Hoff of Elkridge defeated Kathy Altemus of the CC of Maryland, 5 and 3, and Connie Pifer of Hunt Valley stopped Eleanor Appling of Eagle's Nest, 7 and 6.
