Sweet Alex, Prado win

Sweet Alex, ridden by Edgar Prado, leading jockey at Pimlico Race Course, rallied down the center of the track to capture the $26,000 Discreet Purse yesterday.

Sweet Alex completed 1 1/16 miles in 1 minute, 43 3/5 seconds after rallying from last in a field of five fillies and mares. Miss Protege finished five lengths behind in second, and Double Artemis, who led until midstretch, finished another length behind in third.

Sweet Alex, owned and trained by Vincent L. Blengs, paid $7.20 $3.40 and $2.40. Miss Protege paid $3.60 and $2.80, and Double Artemis paid $4 to show. The 6-2 exacta was worth $26.60.
