ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- When Chito Martinez went on the disabled list May 5 with an injured right hamstring, the Rochester Red Wings were 10-10. When he came off for the second time, on May 28, they were 19-25.
"I'm one guy on the team," Martinez said. "It takes nine to win. Saying that I was out caused the team to lose, I can't agree with that."
Martinez has contributed enough in the eight games since his return to make one reconsider the statement. In his third game back, he hit two home runs -- a three-run homer and a grand slam -- to spark a 14-2 rout of the Nashville Sounds on Friday. He added homers Saturday and Monday to take the Class AAA International League lead with 11, as the Red Wings have won six of eight games.
