Sharon Pusin won the last hole to edge Young Ja Kim, 1-up, and Joan Lins won the last two holes to eliminate Connie Pifer, 2-up, to highlight the first round of the women's Metropolitan golf championship at Hillendale Country Club yesterday.

Lins was 1-down at the turn, but won three of the next four holes to take command of her match.

Leigh Farrell, a first-round loser a year ago, lost the first two holes to Tinker Eck, a former champion, but bounced back to get even by the turn. From there, she won four times in a five-hole span, closing out a 4-and-3 triumph with a birdie at No. 15.
