A week later than expected, Frank Robinson and the Baltimore Orioles apparently will announce today whether they'll continue as a team.
Team president Larry Lucchino said yesterday that an announcement about Robinson's future with the Orioles should be made today and that word would come "from the Orioles and from Frank."
Robinson, who was dismissed as Orioles manager May 23, met with Lucchino and Orioles general manager Roland Hemond on Tuesday to discuss rejoining the Orioles front office as an assistant general manager. He called the discussion "encouraging" but said he wanted time to talk to his family and think about his future.
Before becoming Orioles manager in April 1988, Robinson served briefly in the front office as an assistant to the late owner Edward Bennett Williams.
