Man Beaten, Robbed At Home In Severn

GLEN BURNIE: — A Severn man told police he was beaten and robbed after a man broke into his home early Saturday morning.

County police said the assailant broke into the man's home in the 7800 block of Bastille Place atabout 4 a.m. The robber began hitting the man with a baseball bat, and then took his coin collection. The man never saw the robber's face.

COUPLE CHARGED WITH COCAINE POSSESSION

A Glen Burnie couple was charged with possession of cocaine afterundercover police officers sold them fake crack Friday.

William Harry Strohl and his wife, Elaine Strohl were arrested after buying $50 worth of the drug from the detectives who were posing as drug dealers in the Warfield Homes community in Severn.

Police confiscated their 1989 Buick Regal and $191.

Also charged with hindering and obstruction of justice during the drug operation were: Stewart Anthony Garfield, 27, of the 1600

block Meade Village Circle in Severn, and Kenneth Houston, 31, of the 2800 block Seaman Drive in Baltimore.

Jeremiah Wanamaker, 18, of the 4400 block G Street in Washington, D.C., was charged with distribution of cocaine.

CALIFORNIA MAN, 46, KILLED IN AUTOMOBILE

A 46-year-old California man was killed Saturday when his car hit a tree on Maritime Boulevard in Linthicum.

Daniel Clark Lazarich of Port Hueneme, Calif., was driving south on Maritime Boulevard near Hammonds Ferry Road at about 1:30 a.m. when his car hit a guard rail. Then the car bounced back on to the road and hit a tree.

Two passengers in the car with him, Steve Michael Slead, 35, of Santa Anna, Calif., and Daniel Hosey of Worchester, Mass., werein serious but stable condition at the Maryland Shock Trauma Center at University Hospital in Baltimore.

MAN CHARGED WITH BATTERY AFTER FIGHT

A Glen Burnie man wascharged with battery after he tried to stab another man during a fight Sunday in the parking lot of an apartment complex.

Police said Terry Johnson, 30, of the 100 block of Garden Gate Lane, got into a fight with Roger Fisher, 48, of the 8000 block of Crainmont Drive in Glen Burnie.

The pair were fighting in the parking lot of Nolpark Court in Glen Burnie when Fisher was punched in the eye, police said.

He went into his home and came out with a knife and tried to stab Johnson, but only cut him on the leg, police said.

As he was trying to stab Johnson, Fisher tripped and cuthis left leg, police said.

Both men were treated and released from North Arundel Hospital. Fisher was charged with battery, police said.

MAN CHARGED WITH MAKING COCAINE

A Hanover man was charged with manufacturing cocaine after an officer said he saw him throw a bag ofthe drug to the ground Saturday.

John Yasuji Knight, 22, of the 1900 block Canonchet Court, was charged after Officer Greg Overstreet saw him throw a bag of

crack cocaine down in front of a home on Richfield Drive in Severn.

Police said Overstreet was called to the area to look for a man with a gun. The officer saw a man who fit the description of the gunman walking down the street. When he tried to stop the man and talk to him, the man threw something on the ground. Overstreet caught up with the man and handcuffed him.

He later found two plastic bags with crack cocaine on the ground.
