The Marine Trades Association of Maryland and the Anne Arundel Marine Trades Association are sponsoring a MTAM Golf Tournament beginning 10 a.m. June 3 at the Eisenhower Golf Course, Crownsville.
A variety of prizes will be offered during the tournament, including a new powerboat for a hole-in-one and two round trip airline tickets to anywhere in the continental U.S. After a 10 a.m. registration, the golfing will begin at 11 a.m.
Registration is $90 per golfer, $500 for corporate sponsorship, $200 for hole sponsorship, and tee or green sponsorship $125.
The tournament is limited to 144 golfers, and registration is based on a first come, first served

HOPKINS AT HBAM
Annapolis Mayor Alfred A. Hopkins will be the guest speaker at the Home Builders Association of Maryland's AnnapolisCity Chapter's meeting at 6 p.m. June 5 at Carrol's Creek Cafe.
At 4:30 p.m. June 6, Anne Arundel County Council members will address the membership of the county chapter of HBAM at Paul's on the South River.
Each council member will address the budget and infrastructure of his or her own district. The event is a fund-raiser, with hot and cold hors d'oeuvres and cash

LEARN BUSINESS PLANNING
Business plans will be the topic at the Entrepreneur's Exchange luncheon at 11:30 a.m. June 5 at Busch's Chesapeake Inn, Route 50 East, Annapolis.
"Developing and Integrating Business Plans" will be presented by Linda T. Elkins and Sally H. Franceschina. Elkins, a sole proprietor, and Franceschina, owner of Organization Plus, have extensive experience in business planning and will emphasize taxation and personal money management.
The cost is$14 in advance and $17 at the door.
TURNING A CALL INTO A SALE
"Turning the Inbound Call into a Sales Opportunity," an intensive two-hour course sponsored by the Annapolis Chamber of Commerce, will be offered from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. June 11 at the Chamber Conference Room, 1 Annapolis St., Annapolis.
The course will include techniques in building customer confidence, loyalty and trust, and building phone representatives' confidence in becoming helpful and assertive.
Course instructor Suzanne Armstrong, a trainerand consultant, will use discussion, role-playing and feedback to teach participants to satisfy customers, identify sales potentials in calls, and turn a problem into a sales opportunity.
The cost is $20to members and $30 to non-members.
Anne Arundel Community College is offering a trio of non-credit classes for small-business owners and managers in June and July.
In "Payrolls and Tax Accounting for Small Business", Parts I and II, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 12 (Part I) and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 19 (Part II), a certified public accountant takes up manual payrolls, federal and state payroll tax requirements, payrolls system and more.
The course is taught at the college's Arnold campus on College Parkway. Each course is $25, and Part I is a prerequisite for PartII.
The third class, "Cash Flow: The Lifeline of Business," looksat the signs of cash-flow problems and ways to remedy them. The class meets in two sessions from 6 to 9 p.m. July 9 and 16 at the college's Arnold campus.
The cost for the class is $25, which covers bothsessions.
