Car Accident Kills 1 Man, Injures

A 46-year-old California man died Saturday morning when his car hit a guardrail on Maritime Boulevard, bounced off a cement culvert and hit a tree. Two passengers are listed in serious condition in a Baltimore hospital.

Police say Daniel Clark Lazarich, of Port Hueneme, Calif., was driving south on Maritime Boulevard near Hammonds Ferry Road at about 1:20 a.m. when his car ran off the road. Lazarich was trapped inside his car and declared dead at the scene when police arrived.

Steve Michael Slead, 35, of Santa Anna, Calif., and Daniel Hosey,age unknown, of Worcester, Mass., are listed in serious condition atMaryland Shock Trauma Center at University Hospital in Baltimore.


A 44-year-old Odenton man was listed in fair condition Saturday at North Arundel Hospital after being attacked by someone who entered his home and hit him with a baseball bat, Anne Arundel police said.

Alvin Alexander Cockrill, of the 7800 block of Bastille Place, suffered a swollen left wrist and a puncture wound to his forehead, police said.

Police say that at about4 p.m. Saturday, someone broke into Cockrill's home by smashing the rear sliding glass window. Police say they believe the suspects stoleCockrill's coin set after the attack.

Police had no description of the attacker or attackers.
