Baltimore City

BANK ROBBERY: Northeastern District -- Police said a man robbed the Provident Bank of Maryland branch in the 5200 block of Belair Road Friday and escaped with an undisclosed sum. They said a man entered the bank shortly before 6 p.m. and gave a teller a white envelope that contained a note telling her he was armed and that he wanted money. Police said the teller gave the man a stack of bills with an explosive dye pack hidden inside. They said the man removed the dye pack and gave it back to the teller, telling her, "You done good." Police said the man ran out the front door and was seen entering a red hatchback-style car, which sped away.

ROBBERY: Central District -- Bernice Payne, of the 800 block of Whitelock St., told police she was near her home early yesterday when a man knocked her to the pavement and robbed her of her purse containing cash and property, all valued at more than $20.

ROBBERY: Central District -- Sharon Reedy, who lives in the 2000 block of Paulette Road in Baltimore County, reported she was walking in Custom House Alley around 3 a.m. yesterday when two men robbed her of her purse and escaped with cash and property of unknown value.

ASSAULT/ARREST: Central District -- Police were holding a man at the station lockup pending charges that he struck Rita Weaver, of the 700 block of Lennox St., with a hammer at her home early yesterday. Police said Weaver was not seriously injured and that a 29-year-old resident of the 800 block of Lennox St. was arrested.

THEFT: Central District -- Alexander Ortiz, of the 1200 block of St. Paul St., reported that someone stole his $300 18-speed bike over the weekend after he had secured it to a bike rack in the 300 block of Light St.

BURGLARY: Central District -- Employees of the Peanut Shoppe in the 100 block of W. Lexington St. reported that someone broke into the building through the front door yesterday morning and stole an unknown quantity of peanuts.

BURGLARY: Central District -- Police reported that someone broke into the Little Tavern in the 300 block of E. Baltimore St. yesterday through a side door and stole more than 100 pounds of ground beef of undetermined value.

THEFT: Northeastern District -- Benjamin Coffield, of the 3700 block of Shellbrook Court in Randallstown, reported that while his 1988 Nissan was parked in the 1500 block of Lochwood Road over the weekend, someone broke into it and stole a Taurus .380 semiautomatic handgun and his wallet, a loss of nearly $400.

ASSAULT: Northeastern District -- Darryl Hodges, of the 5500 block of Radecke Ave., reported that he was stabbed in the chest with a knife at his home late Friday night. Police said Hodges refused medical treatment and that a 20-year-old woman Hodges knows was being sought.

BURGLARY: Northeastern District -- A resident of the 4100 block of Westview Road reported that someone broke into her home through a window early yesterday and stole a VCR and cash, valued at more than $350.

BURGLARY: Northeastern District -- Employees of Alex Mart, a gift shop in the 3900 block of Erdman Ave., reported that someone broke the glass front door of the business over the weekend and stole two radios valued at $400.

BURGLARY: Northeastern District -- Police reported that a wallet containing more than $100 was stolen from a dwelling in the 1200 block of Southview Road. Police said the thief got in through an unlocked window.

BURGLARY: Northeastern District -- Police today were seeking the person who broke into a dwelling in the 1200 block of Kitmore Road over the weekend and stole jewelry valued at nearly $1,900.

THEFT: Northeastern District -- Theodore Kawalsky, of the 5000 block of Grindon Ave., reported someone removed the $3,000 outboard motor from his boat while it was being stored in the driveway of his home.

THEFT: Northeastern District -- John Shissler, of the 6300 block of Marietta Ave., told police that someone entered the front yard of his home over the weekend and stole lawn furniture valued at $50.

ASSAULT: Northeastern District -- Sabastian Averela, 66, of the 400 block of Horners Lane in Armistead Gardens, reported he was in the 1100 block of Quantril Way Saturday afternoon when he became involved in an argument with an acquaintance, who picked up a shovel and struck him. Police said Averela was not seriously injured and that the other man was being sought.

ASSAULT: Northeastern District -- Police arrested a man and were holding him at the Eastern District pending charges that he pointed a handgun at Shawn Buckner, of the 1300 block of Etting St., yesterday morning in the 4000 block of Hillen Road. Police said Buckner was not injured and the suspect was to have a bail hearing before a District Court commissioner.

THEFT: Northern District -- Lillian Sanders, of the 5200 block of Craig Ave., reported that someone entered her home over the weekend and removed a window air conditioner valued at nearly $500.
