Vacation plans

It's your call

June 03, 1991

Many respondents to The Evening Sun's informal telephone survey are scaling back their summer vacation plans this year.

Of 356 callers to SUNDIAL, 132 (37 percent) were planning to spend less this year than in the past, while 135 (38 percent) were planning to spend about the same. Only 89 (25 percent) were planning to spend more. Thirty percent or 108 callers were planning shorter vacations; only 100 callers (28 percent) were planning longer vacations than in the past.

A majority (238, or 66 percent) were planning to reach their vacation destinations by car; 94 callers (26 percent) were planning plane trips. Forty-one percent (145 of 358 respondents) are planning to visit friends or relatives. And almost half (143 of 296) are headed for Ocean City and other Delmarva beaches.
