Two Harford men convicted in Harford Circuit Court for raping a pregnant 19-year-old Havre de Grace woman were each sentenced to 20 yearsin prison Tuesday.

Richard L. Wallace, of Aberdeen, and Christopher U. Eley, of Havre de Grace, were given the sentences after their motions for new trials were denied.

Eley, 21, was convicted of first-degree rape, assault with intentto rape, battery, assault and false imprisonment following a March 8trial.

Wallace, 21, was convicted of first-degree rape, assault with intent to rape, assault, assault and battery and false imprisonment after a April 9 trial.

Circuit Judge Stephen M. Waldron sentenced Eley and Wallace to life in prison for the first-degree rape charges, but suspended all but 20 years of the sentences.

Eley and Wallace were each given a total of 15 years in prison for the remaining charges. Waldron suspended those sentences, according to court files.

Eley and Wallace were ordered by the judge to serve five years probation and to avoid contact with the victim following the completion of their prison terms, documents say.

The woman, who was about twomonths pregnant when raped, testified that Wallace and Eley came to her home, in the 1600 block of Battery Drive, to drink beer on May 16, 1990. She testified that she asked Wallace and Eley to leave, but the men refused and attacked her.
