On disability insurance

It's your call

May 30, 1991

Most readers of The Evening Sun responding to It's Your Call questions regarding disability insurance said they have such a policy.

More than 67 percent, or 145 of 217 callers, said they have a disability insurance policy. Another 33 percent, or 72 callers, said they do not have a disability policy.

Ninety-three of 143 respondents -- or 65 percent -- said they have examined their policy's totals, while 50, or 35 percent, said they had not examined their policy totals. Furthermore, 162 of 212 callers, or 76 percent, said they believe employers should be required to offer group disability totals. Twenty-four percent, or 50 callers, said they believe employers should not.

"It's Your Call" represents a sampling of opinions from certain segments of the community, but it is not balanced demographically, as would be done in a scientific public opinion poll.
