Constellation heat could help Rosasco

RUNNING

May 28, 1991|By Michael Reeb

If it's hot and Marge Rosasco runs well in Saturday's L'eggs Mini-Marathon 10K in New York City, she has the Constellation Classic 10K partially to thank.

It was hot for Sunday's 16th annual Constellation Classic at the Inner Harbor, and Rosasco, 43, ran well, finishing 12th overall and first in the female masters division in 39 minutes. Her closest masters competitor was Linda Mills, who finished 24th overall in 41:05.

"It was bad, the worst one ever," Rosasco said about the heat and humidity for this year's Constellation, "and I've been in every one. Well, actually I had to pull out last year with an injury, but I can say that I've started every one."

This one might have been one of her smartest runs.

"I just decided I wasn't going to kill myself in this humidity, but I finished strong," Rosasco said.

Finishing strong in the Constellation is no given, considering that the course was altered last year to finish on Key Highway instead of on Light Street.

"You have to go up that uphill that you don't get to go down," Rosasco said.
