Baltimore City

SHOOTING: Eastern District -- James Carmen, 32, of the 1600 block of N. Broadway, was listed today in fair condition at Johns Hopkins Hospital after he was shot several times on a basketball court at Bocek Park off the 3100 block of E. Madison St. Police said Carmen was at the basketball court shortly after 8 p.m. Sunday when at least two men approached and began shooting. Police said Carmen was hit in the back, chest and groin by at least six bullets, one of which grazed a 13-year-old boy who was nearby. Police said the teen-ager, a resident of the 800 block of N. Linwood Ave., also was taken to Hopkins, where he was treated and released. Police said Carmen had been shot last week and released from a hospital following treatment.

ROBBERY: Southern District -- Police were seeking a man who robbed a couple of their jewelry Sunday as they walked in the 600 block of S. Charles St. about 11 p.m. Police said a gunman took jewelry valued at $3,000 from Michael Gunther, of the 3400 block of W. Lanvale St., and robbed his female companion, Lasheune George, an out-of-town resident, of jewelry valued at $1,400.

ROBBERY: Southern District -- Keith Henry, of the 1700 block of Webster St., told police he was in the 600 block of Light St. early yesterday when a man with a handgun robbed him of $14.

ROBBERY: Southern District -- Police reported that Angela Neiman, of the 1300 block of Hollins St., was robbed of her purse containing cash and property, all valued at more than $100, when she was attacked from behind by a man as she walked in the 1300 block of W. Lombard St. Friday afternoon.

ROBBERY: Northwestern District -- A man wearing a stocking mask and holding one hand inside his shirt as though armed took an undisclosed amount of money from a cash register at the Revco pharmacy at the Reisterstown Road Plaza in the 6800 block of Reisterstown Road about 4 p.m. Sunday after threatening a clerk.

THEFT/ARRESTS: Northeastern District -- Police arrested two men and charged them with theft of flowers from Walther Gardens, a florist in the 4700 block of Walther Ave. Ronald Swinder, 23, of the 4100 block of White Ave., and Wayne Horn, 24, of the 2600 block of Taylor Ave., were awaiting a bail hearing today. Police arrested the two shortly before 1 a.m. yesterday near the shop.

ARRESTS: Northeastern District -- Two youths were arrested yesterday when they attempted to break into a bike shop in the 5000 block of Harford Road. Police said the youths, one 12 and the other 16, were arrested moments after they threw a rock that broke the front window of Pete's Cycle Co. Inc. in the 5000 block of Harford Road. Police said the youths were charged as juveniles and were released in the custody of their parents.

THEFT: Northeastern District -- Salvatore Manning, of the 2900 block of the Alameda, reported that someone entered the bedroom of his home over a period of several days and stole a revolver from inside a dresser drawer.

BURGLARY: Northeastern District -- A resident of the 4100 block of Westview Road reported that property valued at more than $900 was stolen when someone broke into his home by removing a section of screen from a rear door, then opening the door. Police said stereo equipment, a VCR and a telephone were taken.

BURGLARY: Northeastern District -- Police reported that a 26-inch bike valued at nearly $200 was taken from a garage in the 3300 block of Hillen Road over the weekend by someone who forced open the door.

BURGLARY: Northeastern District -- A resident of the 1700 block of Lakeside Ave. reported that someone broke into his garage and stole two bikes and several hand tools, all valued at more than $200.

THEFT: Northeastern District -- Eric Gatson, of the 5500 block of Bowleys Lane, reported that property valued at $60 was stolen from his home over the weekend, and he suspects a visitor.

THEFT: Northeastern District -- Regina Kearney, of the 3900 block of Southclare Road, reported to police that someone entered her home over the weekend and stole property valued at more than $300 from her bedroom closet. She suspects an acquaintance.

BURGLARY: Northeastern District -- A resident of the 1300 block of Kitmore Road reported that someone broke into his home through a basement window and stole computer equipment and several pieces of jewelry, all valued at more than $1,000.

THEFT: Northeastern District -- Ervin Harris, of the 2700 block of Hugo Ave., reported that someone stole a $200 bike off the front porch of his home over the weekend.

ROBBERY: Northeastern District -- Glenda Frisby, of the 2200 block of Pinewood Ave., reported she on the balcony of her apartment late last night and was attacked by a man who had climbed onto the balcony while she was inside her apartment. Frisby told police the man robbed her of her purse containing cash and property, all valued at nearly $50.
