CURRENT volunteer news and needs:

League for the Handicapped needs volunteers for its pre-teen camp, June 26 to July 7, and its teen session from July 11 to July 23 at Camp Greentop in the Catoctin Mountains. The summer camp program for children and adults with disabilities is an accredited residential camp. Deadline to volunteer is June 7. Call 323-0500.

Homewood Museum at the Johns Hopkins University needs volunteers as tour guides and museum shop assistants. Training will be offered in June for lecturing on the Carroll family that lived in the house in the early 1800s, life in Federal America, early 19th century decorative arts and museum practices. To volunteer, call 338-5589.

Carrie Murray Outdoor Education Campus wants volunteers age and older to work with injured birds of prey and assist with nature classes and workshops between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. daily. Training will be offered. Call 396-0808.

Saint Vincent's Center for child and family care needs volunteers at its Chara House in Baltimore City, which is a group home for infants and toddlers with AIDS. Call Janet Weisman, 252-4000.

Reisterstown Senior Center has celebrated National Older Americans Month in May with several events. The last one will be held tomorrow at 4:30 p.m. when an International Tea and Talent show will include foods from around the world, singers, comics and more at the Center, 12035 Reisterstown Road. Maryland School for the Blind welcomes volunteers for help in classrooms, as drivers, clerical assistants and much more. Call volunteer coordinator John Scarborough at 444-5000.

Howard County Department of Citizen Services wants volunteers to teach or help in ceramic classes, the Rumsey Road office, wellness teat, senior information and assistance at Florence Bain Center and Homebound Support program. Parents Anonymous needs volunteers in the Lansdowne area chapter as child-care providers for the weekly parent self-help group sessions. Call Pam Robinson at 728-7021.

Maryland Monument, a project to erect a Maryland monument on the battlefield at Gettysburg -- one of few participant states without one -- is sponsoring a Monument Ball, buffet and dance, from 8 p.m. to midnight June 1 at the Notre Dame Preparatory School, Hampton Lane in Towson.
