Woman Assaulted In Parking Garage

An Ellicott City woman was assaulted Thursday by an unknown assailant while approaching her car in the parking garage at Wincopin Circle,said county police spokesman Sgt. Gary L. Gardner.

Police said the man ran when the victim screamed and elbowed him in the stomach. She escaped unharmed.

The woman told officers she had left the Columbia Inn and walked across the street to the garage at about 9:40 p.m. when she was grabbed from behind around the waist by a man who was hiding between two cars in the garage, police said.

The suspect is described as a white male, 5 foot, 9 inches tall, with light colored hair, and wearing blue jeans.


Police are searching for the driver of an automobile that went out of control and overturned at about 1 a.m. Friday while southbound on College Avenue in Ellicott City, near Bonnie Bridge Place.

The driver fled the accident scene, police said. Two teen-age passengers were injured. Jeff Sherman, 19, whose address was not released, was flown to Maryland Shock Trauma Center at University Hospital in Baltimore. He was released later Friday. The other teen, 17, was taken to Howard County General Hospital. Police and fire officials said the names of the driver and 17-year-old had not not disclosed by officers investigating the accident.

The crash occurred on a rural, windy stretch of road where 12 teen-agers were injured in an accident May 4, Gardner said.

6300 block Open Flower, Owen Brown: May 18, residents were awakened at 4 a.m. by someone who unsuccessfully tried to enter the home through a bedroom window.

5700 block Margrave Mews, Long Reach: May 20, electronic equipment was reported stolen from a residence sometime between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. by someone who pried open a front door.

8300 block Tamar Drive, Long Reach: May 20, a 1980 Chevrolet Malibu was reported stolen from a residential area sometime between 1 a.m. and 7 a.m.

9900 block Guilford Road, Kings Contrivance: May 21, a 1989 Honda Civic was stolen from a residential area sometimeduring the previous


5200 block Brook Way, Wilde Lake: May 21, someone stole a 1989 Toyota Corolla from an apartment complex parking lot overnight.


8200 block Mission Road: May 18, an unknown suspect entered the residence by breaking the glass in thefront door between 7:30 p.m. and 1 a.m. Several undisclosed items were reported stolen.


6800 block Old Waterloo Road: a 1991 Kawasaki motorcycle was stolen from a residence between 6:30 a.m. and noon.

6600 block Washington Blvd.: someone broke into a mobilehome between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. and stole electronic equipment andjewelry.


10000 block Washington Blvd.: May 18, someone forcibly entered a business before 8 a.m. and stole cash and checks.
