* Navy seaman recruits Charles A. Davis Jr., son of Peggy J. and Charles A. Davis Sr. of Hampstead, and Jonah S. Eisenberg, son of JackieN. Eisenberg of Mount Airy, have completed recruit training at Recruit Training Center, San Diego, Calif.
A 1988 graduate of North Carroll High School, Davis joined the Navy in December 1990.
During their eight-week training cycle, they studied general military subjects designed to prepare them for further academic and on-the-job training in one of the Navy's 85 basic fields.
Their studiesincluded seamanship, close-order drill, naval history and first aid.Personnel who complete this course of instruction are eligible for three hours of college credit in physical education and hygiene.
* Marine Pvt. Wayne R. Howes has completed recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, S.C.
During the 13-week training cycle, he was taught the basics of battlefield survival. He was introduced to the daily routine that he will experience during his enlistment and studied professional Marine standards.
Howes participated in an physical conditioning program and gained proficiency in a variety of military skills, including first aid, rifle marksmanship and close-order drill. Teamwork and self-discipline were emphasized throughout the training cycle.
He is the son of Beverly A. Howes of Westminster and James L. Howes of Hampstead.
* Marine Cpl. Mark. M. Tonti, a 1981 graduate of Westminster High School, has reported for duty at Marine Corps Air Station, Iwakuni, Japan.
He is a 1985 graduate of Coker College, Hartsville, S.C., with a bachelor of science degree.
