ROBBERY/ARREST: Northwestern District -- Police arrested a Pimlico man yesterday and charged him with robbing a bank in the 5000 block of Park Heights Ave. Police said an unarmed man entered the Harbor Bank of Maryland about 9:30 a.m. yesterday, announced a holdup and ordered several employees and customers to lie on the floor. After removing an undisclosed sum from several cash drawers, the man escaped on foot. Police said bank employees recognized the man as a former customer and gave them his name and address. A helicopter was dispatched to fly over the man's house in the 3500 block of Oakmont Ave. and, moments later, a man was seen leaving the house and attempting to drive off in a taxicab. Police units on the ground moved in and arrested the man. Police said Mark Stanford Brown, 32, was charged with bank robbery and was held overnight at the station lockup pending a bail hearing before a District Court commissioner. Police said about half of the $2,000 taken in the robbery was recovered.

THEFT: Northeastern District -- Michael Rokos, of the 2200 block of Mayfield Ave., reported that someone entered the front porch of his home yesterday and stole an antique metal lawn chair valued at $300.

BURGLARY: Northeastern District -- Police reported that someone broke into Tony's unisex barber shop in the 2800 block of Hillen Road by forcing a rear door and stole hair-cutting equipment valued at more than $1,200.

BURGLARY: Northeastern District -- A resident of the 1300 block of Argonne Drive reported that someone broke into her home through a basement window yesterday and stole a 10-by-17-foot Oriental rug. Police said the rug had been on the living room floor and that its value was not immediately known.

BURGLARY: Northeastern District -- Employees of Arc Welding in the 3400 block of Sinclair Lane reported that someone broke a lock to get into the building and stole welding equipment and supplies of unknown value.

ARSON: Northeastern District -- Police were seeking two teen-age boys in the arson of a vacant house in the 5600 block of Seward Ave. around 11 a.m. yesterday. Police said that after the fire was seen by other residents of the street, two youths ages 13 to 15 were spotted running from the house. Police said the fire was confined to a room and that damage was minor.

THEFT: Northeastern District -- Police said a man in his mid-20s escaped yesterday after he was spotted stealing several cartons of cigarettes from a display in the High's dairy store in the 3900 block of Erdman Ave.

THEFT: Northeastern District -- Lisa Smith, of the 3300 block of Cliftmont Ave., told police that someone entered the back yard of her home yesterday after opening a gate and stole her power lawn mower valued at more than $160.

THEFT: Northeastern District -- Joseph Patterson, of the 1500 block of Pentland Road, reported that someone broke into his storage locker in the basement of an adjoining apartment building and stole clothing and tools valued at nearly $550.

BURGLARY: Northeastern District -- Police reported that property valued at more than $1,000 was taken from a garage in the 5100 block of Harford Road by someone who forced a lock off the door.

THEFT: Northeastern District -- Marsha Ndir, of the 1800 block of E. 30th St., told police that while her car was parked in the 3200 block of Whitman Drive yesterday, someone broke into it and stole property valued at more than $3,000.

THEFT: Northeastern District -- Michael Campbell, of the 3500 block of Northway Drive, reported that someone stole his $200 bike yesterday after he left it unlocked on his rear porch.

THEFT: Northern District -- Jerry Richards, a resident of Virginia, reported that his car was parked in the 5600 block of Lothian Road yesterday when someone broke into it and stole clothing valued at $100.

BURGLARY: Northern District -- Police reported that someone broke into Benton Classics in the 2800 block of Greenmount Ave. and stole clothing and shoes valued at more than $2,400.

BURGLARY: Northern District -- A resident of the 400 block of Hawthorne Court reported that someone broke into her home and stole five rings, including a wedding band, that were valued at more than $2,000.

THEFTS: Northern District -- Police reported that someone entered a construction site at Sts. Phillip and James Church in the 2800 block of N. Charles St. yesterday and stole telephone equipment valued at $500.

ROBBERY: Northern District -- Police said a man with a handgun entered the Sports Mart in the 2900 block of Greenmount Ave. yesterday afternoon and ordered an employee to give up the contents of a cash register. Before escaping with an undisclosed sum, police said, the gunman forced the employee into the back room and warned him to stay there until the thief left.
