2 Employees Stabbed In Department Store

Two Marshall's department store employees were stabbed with a nail file during a fight Saturday with a suspected shoplifter, county police said.

Police said they still were looking yesterday for a man who walked into the store on Mountain Road in Pasadena and tried to steal shoes.

David Ferguson, a security officer, saw a man who was suspected of another theft in the store at about 8:15 p.m., police said.

Ferguson watched the suspect take several pairs of tennis shoes and attempt to leave by the back door, police said.

When Ferguson stopped the suspect and tried to handcuff him, the suspect began to struggle, police said.

Another employee, Allen Dirk Patterson Jr., tried to intervene.

Both men were stabbed by a nail file attached to a nailclipper, police said.

The suspect ran out the back door and shouted to the driver of a dark blue Chevrolet Impala. The driver left without the suspect, police said.

The suspect was last seen running toward Americana Circle.

The suspect is a black male, about 25 years old, 5 feet 10 inches tall, with a medium build.

He had a cast on one wrist. When he escaped, he still had one hand shackled, police said.

Ferguson refused medical treatment at the scene.


The father of a Pasadena teen-ager has been charged with battery and assault with intent to maim after a manwas struck in the head with a wrench Saturday.

Police said Sean Michael Kocopi, 24, of the 500 block of Jones Road in Severn, and Eugene Henry Storm, 42, of the 500 block of Sunset Knoll Road in Pasadena, had a fight in the Riverdale restaurant in the 100 block of Inverness Road, Pasadena, at about 11:15 p.m.

Police said Storm came to the restaurant after Kocopi argued with his teen-age son earlier in the evening. The two men fought and Kocopi was hit in the head, police said.

Kocopi was treated at the scene.


A Hyattsville man was charged with possession of crack cocaine after police said they found him with the drug in a Severn apartment.

Police said that at about 12:30 a.m. Saturday, narcotics investigators served a search warrant in an apartment in the 1600 block ofCircle Road.

They found a man in the bathroom with a small amountof crack cocaine and about $1,849 in small bills.

Cecil Rex McCalls, 27, of the 8100 block of 15th Avenue, was being held yesterday inthe county detention center on a $7,500 bond.


Two men were forced from their car and robbed Sunday in Freetown, county police said.

Police said the men were inthe 7800 block of Whittaker Road at about 4 a.m. when a man walked up and ordered them out of the car.

The man punched and kicked them, took their wallets, and ran toward Mountain Road, police said.

Police described him as a black male, about 6 feet tall, in his 20s.
