WASHINGTON -- The Jean Harbor show moved to spacious RFK Stadium last night and continued to get rave reviews.

Harbor scored one goal and set up a second goal when he hit the post on a penalty kick, leading the unbeaten Maryland Bays to a 2-1 victory over the Penn-Jersey Spirit before 1,277 at RFK.

"Jean Harbor is the best target player in America," said Maryland Bays coach Gary Hindley.

When Hindley was asked if that included the top target men on the U.S. national team, Hindley said, "I don't know of anyone better. He has all the skills it takes to be a great player. He can do it all."

Harbor's teammates, Chris Reif and Darryl Gee, went even further than Hindley.

"Jean's the best player in America, period," said Reif and Gee.

Reif added, "At 6-2, 210 pounds, no one can stop him."

Harbor smiled at the praise and said: "It really makes me feel good to hear my coach and teammates say these things. They're the ones who should know the best."

Harbor had an injury scare with 1 minute, 45 seconds left in the game when he was kicked in the face by Penn-Jersey's Brian Ainscough.

Harbor lay on the ground for several seconds writhing in pain while the game went on before getting up after a timeout was called.

"I think he [Ainscough] was coming after me," said Harbor. "He just missed kicking me in the eye. I was stunned at first."

Harbor, who has three goals in three games for the Bays (3-0), was at his best last night when Penn-Jersey defender Rich Maher tried to dribble past him about 25 yards from the goal with more than 15 minutes left in the second half.

Harbor took the ball from Maher and with his long and graceful strides easily pulled away from everybody to dribble toward the goal for a point blank shot on a helpless goalkeeper Chris Vaccaro.

Harbor's goal gave Maryland a 2-0 lead with 15:35 left in the game.

Harbor set up the first goal for the Bays with 31:51 remaining in the game when he drilled a penalty kick off the left post that rebounded to Kevin Sloan on the right side.

Sloan pounced right on the ball and sent it past Vaccaro for a 1-0 edge.
