An item in the Newswatch on business people in Money at Work on May 20 misspelled the name of S. Jenell Triff, director of marketing for WBFF-TV Fox 45.

Financial services:

As part of Signet Banking Corp.'s ongoing restructuring, Kenneth H. Trout has been promoted to senior executive vice president in charge of the commercial banking line of business. He will continue to serve as the Maryland regional executive and president of Signet Bank/Maryland.

Alan J. Fink has been named general manager and Mark Seaman has been named marketing director for the Balcor Co.'s Westview Mall. Fink was formerly retail leasing and operations manager for the Rouse Co. and Seaman was assistant manager, sales and marketing for Rouse.


Westview Mall is undergoing a multimillion-dollar renovation and expansion.

Land planning:

Robert R. Staab has been appointed vice president of land planning and community development for Daft-McCune-Walker. He is a former director of the Baltimore County Department of Recreation and Parks and a former Maryland delegate. Camille E. Appel has been promoted to manager-consumer '' communications for the McCormick/Schilling Division of McCormick & Co. Inc. She is responsible for all consumer and trade communications associated with consumer affairs programs, including school and public education programs.

* Baltimore Specialty Steels Corp. has restructured its sales and marketing organization. H.E. Ottey has been named manager of commercial and technical services. V.L. Covey, J.E. Jordan and T.E. Molnar have been named national sales managers. D.C. Patterson has been named marketing manager.

Sretha Sessomes has been promoted to senior accountant at Abrams, Foster, Nole & Williams, Certified Public Accountants. She has been with the firm since 1988.

* At Coopers & Lybrand, Lori Burghauser has been named senior tax associate. She rejoins the firm after an extended maternity leave.

The Prudential's Baltimore agency has appointed Herbert Magin and Charles P. Swain as special agents and registered representatives for the Prudential and its affiliated companies. Magin has been associated with an agency in Palm Beach, Fla., for the last five years. Swain was previously self-employed as a tax accountant.

Joan Barrett has been appointed director of financial reporting and analysis for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Maryland. Previously she served as a consultant with William M. Mercer Employee and Benefits Consulting in Denver and with Milliman and Robertson in Philadelphia.


Carolyn Strauss has been appointed media director for Maleson Advertising. Previously she served as vice president/associate media director for VanSant Dugdale & Co.

* Christopher Scharf has joined Eisner & Associates Inc. as senior copywriter. He comes to Eisner from from Gray Kirk & Evans.

S. Jenell Triff has been named director of marketing for WBFF-TV Fox 45. Previously she was a senior account executive for Fox 32/WFLD, the Fox Broadcasting station in Chicago. She is responsible for special marketing projects and programs such as the station's Family Fun Fest.


The Baltimore Sun Co. has promoted Bruce E. Barwick to vice president, finance. His responsibilities include supervision of accounting, financial planning, cash management, credit and general purchasing operations. He joined the company, which publishes The Evening Sun and The Sun, in 1987 from Times Mirror Co.'s corporate offices in Los Angeles. The Baltimore Sun is owned by Times Mirror.
