Cab Driver Shot By Pair Of Robbers

A cab driver was shot in the shoulder yesterday in Severn, county police reported.

Police said the Associated Cab driver picked up twomen at 10:20 p.m. in front of the Western Auto store in Chesapeake Square Shopping Center on Ritchie Highway in Glen Burnie.

Stephen Pillis, 24, of the 6900 block Glenridge Circle in Glen Burnie, the driver of the cab, drove himself to North Arundel Hospital,where he was in good condition yesterday.

After picking up the two, Pillis drove them to the Warfield Homes community and dropped themoff on Deerfield Drive.

The men got out of the car and one of them demanded money, but the driver refused. One of the robbers shot Pillis in the shoulder and ran into a wooded area without the money, police said.

Police described the first robber as black, about 210 pounds, and 5 feet 8 inches tall. He was walking with a wood cane. He was wearing red shorts, gray cutoff shorts and a sweat shirt.

The second robber is described as a black man, about 160 pounds and 5 feet10 inches tall. He was wearing blue shorts, a white shirt and a red baseball cap.

1800 block ofRutledge Court: May 14. Appliances taken. Loss: $2,000.
