WBAL Radio to carry Terps games

May 16, 1991

WBAL-AM 1090 reached agreement to become the flagship station for radio broadcasts of University of Maryland football and men's basketball games for the next three years, station manager Jeff Beauchamp announced today.

The 50,000-watt station purchased Baltimore-area rights from Jefferson Pilot Sports under terms that were not disclosed, and was designated as the flagship station, meaning that it will arrange the network of stations that carry Maryland football and basketball as well as produce the broadcasts.
