Lucy G. Baier, amateur musician, 79

Lucy G. Baier, a Baltimore native and amateur musician, died Sunday of cancer at her home on Mace Avenue in Essex. She was 79.

Services for Mrs. Baier were scheduled today at the Connelly funeral establishment, 300 Mace Ave., Essex.

The former Lucy G. Johnson was a native of Baltimore who was educated in the public schools.

She played the piano, organ, harp, guitar, banjo and other stringed instruments for her own pleasure and at family gatherings and other parties.

Her husband, Adam P. Baier, died in 1987.

She is survived by two daughters, Vicki Dotterweich and Dorothy King, both of Essex; two sons, Ramon R. Baier, wire room chief at the Baltimore Sun, and George William Baier, both of Essex; a sister, Virginia Heyman of Santa Fe, N.M.; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
