Agency Plans Seminar For Older Entrepreneurs

The Senior Employment Referral Service is teaming up with SCORE, Chapter 390, to offer a special May edition of the Senior Job Network.

"A Business Starter Kit for Seniors" is being offered for the over-55 job seeker who is considering going into business for himself.

The workshop meets from noon to 5 p.m. today at the West Street Library, 1410 West St., Annapolis. Bill Geiger of the Anne Arundel County Office of Economic Development will be joined by three people from SCORE, Chapter 390, Women's Business Ownership Program. Topics include an overview of county resources for entrepreneurs, the whys and hows of writing a useful business plan, effective money management, including borrowing, and low-cost marketing techniques for small businesses.

The SCORE speakers are Dale Snyder of Dale Snyder and Associates, a business instructor with extensive business teaching experience; Linda Mathieu, CPA and president of Teftra Inc., an expert in retirement planning, consultant to banks, brokerage firms and insurance companies; and Carol Sullivan of PR People, who manages the advertising for an eclectic collection of businesses from real estate to the performing arts to communications.

The fee is $10. The workshop is open to the public, although space is limited. Call the Senior Referral Service at the Anne Arundel County Department of Aging. Walk-in registrations will be accepted on a space available basis.
