"Those were the Days," the English-Yiddish musical revue coming to Center Stage on June 4 as part of a national tour, received two Tony Award nominations this week.
The production, which recently completed a successful run at Broadway's Edison Theatre, also garnered a Drama Desk nomination from New York theater critics for Best Musical Revue.
The show, conceived by Zalmen Mlotek and Moishe Rosenfeld, focuses on the Jewish music and theater experience from the shtetl (Old World Jewish community) to Second Avenue to Broadway.
The Broadway cast will star in the Baltimore presentation. Director Eleanor Reissa (nominated for a Tony for Best Direction of a Musical) is also a member of the cast as well as choreographer of the show.
The other cast members are: Bruce Adler (nominated for both a Tony and Drama Desk Award for Best Featured Performer in a Musical), Mina Bern, Robert Abelson and Lori Wilner.
"Those Were the Days," a non-subscription production, will play eight performances weekly through June 16, at 8 p.m. Tuesdays through Thursdays; 8:30 p.m. Saturdays; 3 and 7 p.m. Sundays; 2 p.m. matinees Wednesdays and Thursdays.
