Baltimore City

BURGLARY/ARREST: Northwestern District -- Police yesterday arrested a man and were holding him at the station pending charges that he broke into a dwelling in the 4000 block of Carlisle Ave. and stole a 13-inch TV valued at more than $200. Police said information about a suspect in the break-in led to the man's arrest. He was to appear at a bail hearing before a District Court commissioner.

BURGLARY: Northwestern District -- Employees of the Midas Muffler Shops Baltimore in the 2600 block of Reisterstown Road reported that someone broke into the building Wednesday or yesterday after breaking a front window and stole tools valued at nearly $500.

BURGLARY: Northwestern District -- Police reported that someone broke into the basement laundry room of an apartment building in the 3900 block of Liberty Heights Ave. and stole an unknown quantity of coins from at least one washing machine.

BURGLARY: Northwestern District -- A resident of the 6300 block of Winner Ave. reported that someone broke into his outdoor storage shed and stole his 26-inch, multispeed bike of undetermined value. Police said the thief got into the shed by cutting a lock from the hasp.

BANK ROBBERY: Central District -- Police said a man who implied he had a handgun robbed the Signet Bank in the first block of South St. yesterday morning of an undisclosed sum. They said the man entered the bank, immediately walked up to a teller and told her he was armed and to give him money. Police said the teller gave the man cash that reportedly did not contain an explosive dye pack. Police said the man left the bank and escaped, running east on Redwood Street.

ROBBERY: Northeastern District -- Police reported a man removed money from a cash register at the Dash In convenience store in the 6100 block of Moravia Park Drive after an employee attempted to stop him by closing the register's drawer on his hand. Police said a man entered the store around 1:30 a.m. yesterday and placed an article valued at less than a dollar on the counter. Police said that when the employee opened the register, the man reached into a drawer and was trying to remove money when the employee shut the drawer on the man's hand. With that, according to police, the thief shoved the cash register against the employee, removed about $20 and fled.

BURGLARY: Northeastern District -- Officials of Garden Village Apartments in the first block of E. Fayette St. reported that someone cut the lock off a door of a company storage trailer that was parked in the 4900 block of Todd Ave. and stole a sander valued at $60.

ROBBERY: Northeastern District -- Ann Cameron, of the 13100 block of Clarksville Road in Howard County, reported she was about to enter her car in the 4000 block of Loch Raven Blvd. shortly before 1 p.m. yesterday when a man knocked her to the pavement and stole her purse. The value of the loss was not immediately known.

THEFT/ARREST: Northeastern District -- Police responding to a shoplifting at Charley Rudo Sports at the Northwood Shopping Center in the 1500 block of Havenwood Road arrested a woman who attempted to leave the store without paying for merchandise valued at more than $200. Police said she was being held at the Women's Detention Center at the Central District pending a bail hearing before a District Court commissioner.

ROBBERY: Northeastern District -- Angela Holland, of the 2800 block of Kennedy Ave., reported she was in the 1800 block of E. 28th St. around 9 p.m. yesterday when she was accosted by a man with a handgun who robbed her of cash and personal items, all valued at more than $100.

THEFT: Northeastern District -- A 15-year-old resident of the 3700 block of Mary Ave. reported that someone entered the rear yard of his home yesterday evening and stole his bike, which was valued at $100.

THEFT: Northeastern District -- Employees of Apollo plumbing and heating in the 800 block of Powers St. reported that while a company truck was parked in the 2900 block of Gibbons Ave. yesterday, someone broke into it and stole two power saws and a power drill, all valued at $700.

ROBBERY: Northeastern District -- Sabrina Cannie, 25, of the 5200 block of Frankford Ave., reported she was walking in the 5300 block of Goodnow Road around 6 p.m. Wednesday when she was stopped by a man who stole her wallet containing more than $100 in cash.

BURGLARY: Northeastern District -- A resident of the 6800 block of Fairdel Ave. reported that someone broke into his home through a rear basement door and stole a typewriter and a gold wristwatch valued at nearly $200.

THEFT: Northeastern District -- Members of the staff at Mergenthaler Vocational-Technical High School in the 3500 block of Hillen Road told police that someone entered an unoccupied classroom and stole computer equipment valued at more than $1,200.
