Mothers and their families out on the town this weekend celebrating motherhood will find many things to do. From exhibits to ceremonies, Baltimore venues have come up with some special ways to spend the day with Mom.
At the Maryland State Fairgrounds on York Road in Timonium, a Boy Scout Expo Saturday honors all mothers with a 10-foot greeting card designed by the Scouts. From 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., visitors are welcome to sign the card and stop at booths offering hands-on activities and exhibits. Admission is $2 for adults and children. Call the Boy Scouts at 338-1700 for details.
Sunday, mom's official holiday, offers discounts galore at popular attractions. At the Baltimore Streetcar Museum, moms can ride old streetcars noon to 5 p.m. for 50 cents instead of $2, the regular adult fare. Kids between 4 and 11 can ride for $1; those younger than 4 can ride for free. The museum is located at 1901 Falls Road. Call 547-0264 for more details.
Another popular site, the U.S.F. Constellation, is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday and mothers and their children 15 and younger can come aboard for $1 each. The regular adult fee is $2.75. For more information about the Constellation, call 539-1797.
