Services for Millersville resident Garland Edward Smith took place May 5 at Singleton Funeral Home.

Mr. Smith, 67, died of cancer May 3 at his home.

He was employed by F.P. Winner Distributors for 13 years, where he retired in 1986 as data processing manager. He also served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

His other interests included gardening, brick work and watching sports.

Surviving him are his wife, Vivian Trapp Smith; a son, Stephen Smith of Belair; a daughter, Carol Shiflette of Belair; three step-sons, John and Frederick Wroblewski, both of Belair, and Alex Wroblewski of Locust Point; a sister, Rosemary Turner of Spotsylvania, Va.; and seven grandchildren.


Services took place for Odenton resident Rose Hoodon May 7 at Singleton Funeral Home.

Mrs. Hood, 74, died of natural causes May 5 at Harbor Hospital Center.

She was self-employed for 20 years by Hood's Grocery Store until her retirement in 1973.

She is survived by a son, James M. Hood of Odenton; two sons, Alex Klemantovich of Pittsburg, Pa. and Victor Klemantovich of Huntington Beach, Calif.; two sisters, Edna Wroblewski of Pittsburg, Pa. and SabinaMinko of Carson, Calif.; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.


Services took place for Glen Burnie resident Harold Thomas Simmons Sr. on May 8 at Glen Burnie United Methodist Church.

Mr. Simmons, 70, died May 4 at his home.

Mr. Simmons was a member of Glen Burnie United Methodist Church,Scottish Rites, Shriner-Boumi Temple, Master Pythaoris Lodge, and American Legion Post 40.

He is survived by his wife, Rose Marie Buccheri Simmons; two sons, Harold T. Simmons Jr. of Richmond, Va. and Wesley D. Simmons of Rome, N.Y.; four daughters, Gloria A. Benden of Charlotte, Michigan, Darlene J. Upton of Severn, Deborah J. Mizenko of Perry, Ohio, and Dorothy M. Simmons of Glen Burnie; a brother, Paul Simmons of South Boston, Va.; a sister, Evelyn Weston of South Boston,Va.; 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
