Baltimore City

BURGLARY: Western District -- A resident of the 2800 block of Clifton Ave. reported that someone broke into his home between Sunday night and Monday morning and took more than $100 in cash from behind a couch in the living room. Police said a man known to the occupant was seen leaving the house shortly before the money was reported missing. Police advised the occupant to seek a warrant for the man's arrest.

CUTTING: Western District -- Shenida Moncreek, of the 2100 block of Etting St., reported that she was attacked Monday at her home by another woman who cut her with a knife. Police said Moncreek was taken to the University of Maryland Medical Center, where she was treated for lacerations of the left hand and back and released.

BURGLARY: Western District -- Police reported that property valued at more than $1,400 was stolen from a dwelling in the 2300 block of Eutaw Place after someone entered through a skylight. Police said the burglar took a VCR, TV and several rings.

ROBBERY: Western District -- William Suter, of the first block of S. Carrollton Ave., told police he was attacked by two men in their mid-20s who threw him to the ground and robbed him of nearly $75 in currency and coins in the first block of N. Carrollton Ave. early Monday afternoon.

BURGLARY/ARREST: Western District -- Police arrested a man and charged him with breaking into a house in the 2000 block of N. Fulton Ave. Police said Melvin Burrell, 28, of the 700 block of George St., also was charged with theft of property valued at more than $300, possession of a handgun and child desertion. Police said someone broke into the house Monday through a rear door and took two VCRs and a handgun. Police said Burrell was being held at the station in lieu of $50,000 bond. A trial date of June 3 has been set.

BURGLARY: Northern District -- A resident of the 600 block of Woodbourne Ave. reported that someone broke into his home through the kitchen door and stole at least one check and cash. Police said the cash and check had a combined value of more than $1,100.

BURGLARY: Northern District -- Police reported that property valued at more than $50 was stolen from Advance cleaners in the 100 block of E. 39th St. after someone broke into the building between Monday and yesterday.

THEFT: Northern District -- Karen Mitchell, of the 600 block of Radnor Ave., reported that someone entered her home yesterday and stole a set of earrings valued at nearly $200. Mitchell told police she suspects a man she knows of stealing the property.

BURGLARY: Northern District -- Police reported that someone broke into a storage building in the 800 block of W. 35th St. between Monday and yesterday and stole property valued at $300.

BURGLARY: Northern District -- A resident of an apartment in the 2400 block of Loyola Northway reported that someone broke into his dwelling by entering an adjoining vacant apartment and knocking a hole in a closet wall. Police said it was not immediately known what property was stolen from the victim's apartment.

THEFT: Northern District -- Michael Downs, of the 700 block of Melrose Ave., reported that while his 1988 Toyota was parked near his home between Monday night and yesterday morning, someone broke into the vehicle and stole a car stereo cassette radio. Police said the radio was valued at more than $400.

BURGLARY: Northern District -- A resident of the 3500 block of N. Calvert St. reported that someone broke into his apartment yesterday and stole more than $200 in cash. Police said entry was gained through the kitchen window.

BURGLARY: Northern District -- Police reported that furniture valued at $400 was stolen from a dwelling in the 1300 block of Weldon Ave. after someone broke through the front door.

BURGLARY: Northeastern District -- Employees of the Chevron service station at the Northwood Shopping Center in the 1500 block of Havenwood Road reported that someone shattered the front window of the building and stole several containers of soda.

BURGLARY: Northeastern District -- Police reported that someone broke into Young's cleaners in the 1500 block of Homestead St. and stole $50 in cash, the cash register and a hemming machine. Police said the property was valued at more than $1,000 and that entry was gained by opening a basement door.

ASSAULT/ARREST: Northeastern District -- Police arrested John Tan, 34, of the 4000 block of Frankford Ave., and charged him with assault after he pointed a shotgun at two boys, one 17 and the other 13, during an incident over the weekend. No injuries were reported. Police said Tan was later released. Bail information was not immediately available.
