A division of the Maryland Department of Economic and Employment Development's State of Maryland Job Service has beenstationed at Westinghouse Resource Center to help the 1,200 people the company has laid off.

The layoffs, due to deep budget cuts, included people in accounting, administration, assembly, clerical/secretarial, computer science, contracts, engineering, human resources, information systems, logistics, marketing, manufacturing, program management, purchasing, quality assurance and technicians.

AD AGENCY HIRES TWO

The Gerard Co. advertising agency recently hired Larry Haley and Jim Hesch for its media department.

The company, based in Hanover, is responsible for placing 45,000 print ads yearly throughout the UnitedStates. Hesch and Haley will work on the company's Navy account.

Jerry Boyer, a sales manager with Long & Foster Realtors in Odenton, has earned the prestigious Graduate Realtor's Institute (G.R.I.) designation of advanced real estate education

A nine-year real estate professional, Boyeer is an active member of the Anne Arundel Association of Realtors. He has managed the Odenton Longand Foster office for the past three years.
