Gene Strull, vice presitdent of technology for Westinghouse Electronics Systems Group, has been recognized as the winner of the 1991 Frederik Philips award. Presented by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, the award cites Strull's "outstanding accomplishment in the management of microelectronics and integrated circuit developments and their applications to aerospace systems." Strull, who has a doctorate in electrical engineering, began his career with Westinghouse in 1954. He is general manager of the firm's Advanced Technology Division, where he is responsible for the development and manufacture of advanced electronic components and sub-systems. Strull holds 21 U.S. patents, including one for the first molecular electronic device.

Management services: Nan A. Grant has been promoted to corporate controller of PHH Corp. Grant, who is a certified public accountant, has been assistant controller since February 1989. In her current position she is responsible for all financial reporting requirements of the company and its subsidiaries.

Image Dynamics Inc. has hired Kenneth W. Mann as an assistant account executive. He joined the agency last September as a graduate intern.

* Classic Communications has expanded its staff and range of services. Michael J. Szimanski has been named public relations development director and will also serve as an account executive. Previously he was with the B&O Railroad Museum and the Baltimore Zoo. Sylvia Schildt has become affiliated with the agency in a creative capacity as a writer and concept developer. Karen Ayers has been named designer/art director.

Security Trust Co. N.A. has given Patricia L. Potter, vice president, the duties of new business development manager for the Eastern Shore. Previously she was head of the employee benefit trust group for the company, a subsidiary of MNC Financial Inc.

Accounting: Jacob J. Cohen, a director of Walpert, Smullian & Blumenthal, P.A., has been appointed to serve on the Auditing Standards Board of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. The board is the senior technical committee that sets up the auditing rules nationwide that have impact on privately and publicly held corporations.

* John Archer has been appointed associate consultant in the Health Care Management Consultant Division in the Baltimore office of Coopers & Lybrand.

Paul E. Neumayer has been appointed divisional vice president, special markets, of the Baltimore Life Insurance Co. He joined the company almost 15 years ago. He is a member of the Baltimore Life Charitable Trust, which manages and administers the company's contributions to charities, and is serving as chairman of the Research Fund of the University of Maryland's Shock Trauma Center.

* At Alexander & Alexander Services Inc., Wallace A. Eddleman has been promoted to tax attorney in the Office of Tax Planning and Tax Counsel and will be based in Owings Mills.
