A 24-year-old West Baltimore man was fatally stabbed early today during an argument prompted by a bottle of beer.

City police said the victim, John Taylor of the 3000 block of W. North Ave., was stabbed in the chest at the home of his girlfriend in the 700 block of N. Gilmor St. at 1:45 a.m. Taylor was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police arrested Andrea Moore, 25, of the Gilmor Street address, and charged her with first-degree murder and use of a deadly weapon. Moore was being held at the Women's Detention Center awaiting a bail hearing before a court commissioner.

Investigators said the woman gave Taylor money sometime yesterday to go to a nearby store to buy a quart of beer for her. When he returned, he found the woman's former boyfriend in the house.
