Baseball Chicago Cubs -- Placed P Mike Harkey (0-2, 5.30) on 15-day DL, retroactive to April 27 and announced he will undergo diagnostic arthroscopic surgery on his right shoulder Thursday. Recalled P Bob Scanlan from Class AAA Iowa.

San Francisco Giants -- Rescinded decision to option P Trevor Wilson (0-2, 6.92) to Class AAA Phoenix. OF Kevin Mitchell withdrew appeal of 2-game suspension imposed by NL president Bill White for charging San Diego Padres P Bruce Hurst after being hit by pitch and brushed back April 10. Mitchell will begin suspension tonight.
