Pack 662 Is Quality

Cub Scout Pack 662, sponsored by BBM Delivery and Services in Severn, received the 1991 Quality Unit Award at its monthly pack meeting atRidgeway Elementary School.

The Quality Unit Award represents national recognition for a Cub Scout program for area youth, specified objectives for advancement in rank, and approved training for adult volunteer leaders.

The pack flag ribbon was presented to Assistant Cubmaster RussellMeridith by Beverly Fish, chartered organization representative. Fish also presented Pack 662with a commemorative plaque on behalf of BBMDelivery and Services of Severn.

The following awards and advancements were presented at the meeting:

* Tiger Cub beads awarded to Evan Cavin, Matthew Clark, James Gullion, Ryan Lester, Joshua McDowell, Chuck Soverns and David Yeatman.

* The Bobcat Badge was given to Charles Berkley Jr.

* Thomas Lester was awarded the Wolf Badge and one Gold Arrow Point. Steven Lewis earned the Wolf Badge, one GoldArrow Point and four Silver Arrow Points. Other Wolf Arrow Points were awarded to Thomas Bennett, who also earned one Gold Arrow Point, and Douglas Yeatman, with three Silver Arrow Points.

* Webelos activity pins were earned by Kevin Bolk (Geologist, Athlete), Nick Bright(Outdoorsman, Athlete), Mike Meredith (Traveler, Athlete), and Grady"Eli" Reves (Athlete, Craftsman, Forester, Geologist and Scholar).

The monthly pack meeting also featured a Cub Scout Cake Bake. Cakesbaked by the Cubs were on display for silent-bid auction and were judged by Tom Blakey, Margaret Foster and Pack Chaplain Thad Jackson.

Honors went to Douglas Yeatman's "Washington Monument" for tallest cake; Nick Bright's "Easter Bunnie Bownie" for shortest cake; Steven Lewis's "Bear" for most original cake; and Charles Niemeyer's "Camp Out Scene" for most beautiful cake.

The cake auction raised $130, which will be used to support pack activities through the spring and summer.

In other news, Webelos Den Leader Gary Reeves and his wife,Sheila, were presented with commendations for their support to the Pack.
