Private services were held for Arnold resident John Munhall Niedringhaus at his home.
Mr. Niedringhaus, 78, died April 16 at Anne Arundel Medical Center after a lengthy illness.
A native of Pittsburgh, Pa., he worked as a manufacturer's representative of school and commercial interior fixtures and cabinets through his companies, American Supply Company and ContractSupply Company, until his retirement in 1985.
As a teen-ager, he received the Gold Carnegie Hero Award for saving a drowning man's life. He graduatedfrom Shadyside Academy in Pittsburgh and Princeton University with honors and received a master's degree in architecture from Carnegie-Mellon University in Pittsburgh.
He enjoyed sailing and was a past commodore of Windjammers, and the Chesapeake and National Triton fleets.
He was an active member of the Rotary Club of Baltimore for more than 35 years and participated in the Anne Arundel Community College Seniors Program.
