San Francisco Giants -- Placed P Scott Garrelts (tendinitis; 1-1, 5.40 ERA) on 15-day disabled list. Recalled P Francisco Oliveras from Class AAA Phoenix.

Illinois -- Basketball F Deon Thomas (15.1 ppg, 6.8 rpg as redshirt freshman) will be in cast for approximately 3 months after fracturing left wrist.
