Howard Growdon

Graveside services will take place for Severna Park resident Howard Charles Growdon at 10 a.m. April 25 at Mansion Memorial Park in Ellenton, Fla.

Mr. Growdon, 92, died of respiratory failure April 21 atKnollwood Manor Nursing Center in Millersville.

He graduated from Ohio State University with a degree in engineering and was employed for 38 years as director of water works in Portsmouth, Ohio, until his retirement in 1968.

Mr. Growdon also servedin the U.S. Navy during World War I.

He was a member of Portsmouth City Council, First Presbyterian Church in Portsmouth, American Legion Post 23 in Portsmouth, Masonic Bodies, Lions and Elks in Portsmouth, and Scottish Rite Lodge 30 in Columbus, Ohio.

His other interests included dogs, animals and gardening.

His wife, Ruth Kline Growdon, preceded him in death in 1975.

He is survived by a niece, Dorcus Cowing of Severna Park; and three great-nephews, Christopher Cowing of Severna Park, Albert Cowing of Brandon, Fla., and Todd Cowing of Annapolis.

Arrangements are being made by Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home.
