Terps football tickets on sale Area college notes

Season tickets for the 1991 University of Maryland football season are now on sale at the school's ticket office.

The package, which costs $103, includes 11 home and away games. The season opener, against Virginia on Sept. 7, will be played in newly renovated Byrd Stadium. The Nov. 9 home game against Penn State will be played at Baltimore's Memorial Stadium.

* The Loyola College basketball team has signed Virgi Wallace, a 6-foot-9, 220-pound center from LaSalle Institute in Troy, N.Y.

Wallace, an Albany-area all-star, averaged 18.5 points, 12.5 rebounds and 3.0 blocks for LaSalle. He's the fourth incoming freshman Loyola has signed, in addition to two transfers, giving Greyhounds coach Tom Schneider six new players for the 1991-92 season.

* Towson State will induct four into its Athletic Hall of Fame Friday (6:30 p.m.) at the University Union. Tennis standout Audrey Morse (Class of 1975), football players Carl Perkins ('73) and Bob Remeto ('71) and former gymnastics coach George McGinty will be honored.
