Preakness Celebration needs immediate help with office work

CURRENT volunteer needs and news:

Maryland Preakness Celebration '91 wants volunteers to help in the office immediately, answering phones, organizing mailings, responding to inquiries and other activities. Located in the World Trade Center. For details, call 837-3030. Also, volunteers are needed for the Preakness Parade, 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. May 10. Call 752-8632. And if you want to help with the Hot Air Balloon Festival in Druid Hill Park, 6:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. May 11, or other Preakness events, call 837-3030.

United Way. Nearly 2,000 United Way professionals and volunteers from all over the United States will meet at the Baltimore Convention Center May 4 to 6. Workshops, addresses, awards, agency tours and other events will be featured. For details call 547-8000.

Grassroots Crisis Intervention Center. A training session for hot line counselors will begin May 17. Those who wish to volunteer should call 531-6006 for an application and information packet.

Franklin Square Hospital wants summer Junior Volunteers. A student must be age 14 or over by June 17 and able to work 15 hours a week for nine weeks. Students, not parents, should call 682-7240 for application packet.

League for the Handicapped Inc. wants volunteers to work in the Family Thrift Shop from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Mondays. Call Erma Freburger, 323-0500.

Jewish Family Services wants volunteers to drive and accompany clients to medical appointments and other destinations. Call 466-9200, Ext. 244 or 296.
