Belle Grove Improvement Association members are preparing for SpringCleanup Day by placing trash bins at Grove Park and Old Riverside Roads on May 3, 4 and 5. Residents of the community are urged to use the trash bins to dispose of large bulk items.

* It's finally here: the in-house "Battle of the Books" winners will go on and compete with other local elementary schools in the area.
Students have been reading selected volumes and will be quizzed about their knowledge of the books. Good luck to all participants.
Brooklyn Park Elementary news: Battle of the Books participants, get ready. Your in-house Battle will be today, with students from each grade battling another grade. AM-kindergarten will take on PM-kindergarten, first grade against second grade, third grade against fourth grade, and fifth grade against sixth grade.
The winners will represent the school at the area battle set for April 30. Good luck to everyone!.
Brooklyn Park/Lindale Middle Junior High news: TheHealth Department will be immunizing seventh-grade students on Friday, April 26. Only those students who have turned in their permission forms will be allowed to be immunized.
* The Pizza Kit pick-up will be from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday, April 27.
Park Elementary news: Parents are urged to attend the CAC meeting at 6 p.m. tonight at the school. Teachers from the School Effectiveness Team willbe there to explain the Maryland School Performance Program (MSPP).
The MSPP determines the testing program that will take place in May. It is important that parents understand the changes taking place in the Maryland educational system.
* May Pole Practice is set for 3:10 p.m. Wednesday.
* The Math Club will meet at 3 p.m. Friday, April 26.
North County High news: Registration for the June 1 Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) is due by Friday, April 26. Registration is $16. Late registration is required by May 8. The fee for late registration is $31.
Don't forget the Local Art Show and Auction at St. Rose of Lima School, 4th and Jeffrey streets, Saturday, April 27. The art may be previewed at 7 p.m., with the auction beginningat 8 p.m. Tickets are $5 and include complimentary wine, soda, coffee, cheese and hors d'oeuvres.

Let's Play Ball! The Brooklyn Park Youth Athletic Association will have its softball/baseball Opening Day at noon on Saturday, April 27. State Sen. Phil Jimeno will be the Master of Ceremonies. A bake sale will run during the day in front of the Sugar Shack. Games will be played throughout the day. Come and root for your favorite players.
The Taxpayer's Improvement Association will meet at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 25, at the Lloyd Keaser Community Center. All residents are urged to attend this important meeting.

St. John Lutheran Church, 3rd and Washburn streets, will sponsor a spaghetti dinner from 3 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, May 4 in thesocial hall. Dinner will consist of spaghetti, salad and bread. Dessert will be on sale. Carryouts are available. Tickets are $5 for adult, $2 for children under 9.
Proceeds will benefit the 75th Anniversary Celebration.
All public schools will be closed on Wednesday, April 24 for a Professional Work Day. Students will resume school on Thursday. Pre-kindergarten and kindergarten classes will not meet Thursday and Friday, April 25 and 26, due to parent-teacher conferences.
