Apg To Have Open House

Aberdeen Proving Ground will open its doors to the public during the1991 Armed Forces Day Open House, scheduled 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, May 18.

Throughout the day, visitors will be able to view test facilities that are not normally open to the public.

Bus tours will offer behind-the-scenes views of the Robotics TestFacility, the Vibration Test Facility and the Munson Test Course.

Highlight of the afternoon will a testing-in-progress show -- a livefire demonstration scheduled to begin at 2 p.m.

The program will show actual test firings that are performed at the U.S. Army Combat Systems Test Activity on military equipment, including demonstrations of the Abrams M1 Main Battle Tank, the Bradley Fighting Vehicle and other vital systems used by the U.S. Army in Operation Desert Storm.

Also part of the annual festivities will be exhibits set up by manyAPG organizations near the Ordnance Museum, including displays on environmental programs and wildlife preservation.
