D.F. FitzGerald Sr

Delbert F. FitzGerald Sr., who was employed for 53 years as stereotyper with the Baltimore Sun Co., died Wednesday at the Cherrywood Manor Extended Care Center in Owings Mills. He was 83.

A mass of Christian burial will be offered 10 a.m. tomorrow at St. Mark's Catholic Church in Catonsville. Burial will be in New bTC Cathedral Cemetery.

A native of West Baltimore, Mr. FitzGerald graduated from Baltimore City College and began work at the Sun newspapers. He retired in December 1972.

Most of retirement years were spent at his Catonsville home before he and his wife, Mary M. FitzGerald, moved to Cherrywood.

Besides the wife, survivors include a daughter, Mary Agnes Conte of North Haven, Conn.; three sons, Delbert FitzGerald Jr., also a Baltimore Sun Co. employee, of Parkville, Joseph FitzGerald of Eldersberg and the Rev. John FitzGerald of Rhode Island; a sister, Vietta A. Rogers of Towson; and 11 grandchildren.
